I don't clip fingernails.

I just can't. I can do my own of course, but cannot do my kids.

Silly as it sounds, it makes me crazy nervous. Sweaty palms nervous.

The role of "nail clipper" will just never be mine, and this was established 5.5 years ago when Spencer was a newborn and I pinched his skin by accident and made him bleed and cry. From that point on, I stepped down and it's been on Aaron ever since.

And Aaron doesn't let me live this down. Each time he clips their nails, I am teased relentlessly. I even make sure he clips their nails before he leaves town on long business trips.

So since there isn't anything else blog-worthy going on, I'm choosing to share this private information with you and throwing this question out into cyberspace to see if I'm not alone here:

Does anyone else get nervous clipping their kids nails and actually shirk the responsibility like I do?

Come on. You can admit it. Make me feel better. I mean, NOT wanting to inflict pain on my children is a noble thing, right? I'm not that strange...right?

Boys will be....boys?

Whenever I fold laundry, Chase decides it's time to play dress up...but not with the pirate/knight dress up clothes we have for him, it's always with my shoes. Always.

At least today he chose a shoe that matches his shirt, right?

So coordinated to walk in high heels AND talk to Grandma at the same time!

Well, at least one of my boys plays dress up with actual boy things. This one has been on a pirate kick since he was two, so almost four years now! It cracks me up how he never tires of yelling, "Argh!"

My new favorite song

wanna hear it?

'Fall for you' by Secondhand Serenade

I'm such a sucker for beautiful piano (man I wish I could play better) and lyrics that tell a story.

Enjoy! (the music that is, I'm not a big fan of the video)

31

Yep, today's the day I'm another year older.

I had a really nice weekend. Last night we went out with my folks and our friends Andrea and Keith to Riptide for the tepan grill and sushi. We had some friends introduce us to this place a month or so ago, and I couldn't wait to go back...even though I do feel quite silly saying to the waitress, "I'd like the "Sexy Mutha rolls please"

Yes, a victoria secret bag. Lucky Aaron!

(j/k, it's lotion. lol)

Today after church and making it through my RS lesson (whew!), my mom spoiled me with her homemade spaghetti (my request, her spaghetti sauce is killer) and some desserts. It was a nice, relaxing day with my family. What could be better? Thanks for all the birthday love everyone. I appreciate all my friends and family who took the time to remember me today! xoxo

The kids and my mom made me wear a preschool birthday crown, stylin' huh? How cute are my boys here though?

Thanks mom and dad for making this birth-day possible, I know it wasn't easy. Some may not know that I was born 2 months early when my mom (who was on bed rest for placenta previa) started hemorrhaging one morning when she got up to get OJ from the fridge. At the emergency C-section the doctors told my dad, "We can save your wife, but most likely not your baby" and after 6 years of fertility treatments to get me, that was especially difficult news to hear. But what did they know? Here we are 31 years later!

How is it that...

this little face is now big enough to start Kindergarten in just 21 days?

Someone please explain to me how these last five years have gone by so quickly?!

*sniff, sniff*

Good thing Spencer has no clue I'm so weepy over him going to K. He's sooo excited he can hardly wait! At least he now knows that a calculator is not a telephone. That's something he'd need to know by the time he goes to Kindergarten, right?

Big trucks, little boys...

Each Wednesday morning, it's as if Santa Clause himself were making a personal appearance at our front door. Chase is just fascinated by the trash truck and screams with delight each time he hears it coming down our street.

We have a weekly ritual of standing at our front door and waving at the trash truck driver as he does his thing. I suppose in this case, it's a good thing that we live in a city that doesn't believe in building houses with front yards ;) we always get such a great view!

Yesterday I just couldn't pass up this opportunity to snap a shot of my cute little Chase in his mis-matched jammies totally entertained (for at least 17 seconds) by the trash removal process.

Date night(s)!

This past Saturday, without us knowing, Spencer and Leda put together a "date night" for us in our garage/play room. As you can see they set up a "table", chairs, and served us our food. It was so stinkin' cute that they came up with this all on their own...those turkeys!

The pic is a bit fuzzy, but our photographer is only five, you know :)

Our waiter and waitress...now these are fuzzy too, not sure why since our photographer is 30 (for another 2 weeks) but you can still see their cuteness, so it's all good.

Our real anniversary date night began by loading up on carbs at Macaroni Grill

then we relaxed at the theater and watched the movie Hancock. Despite the language we could have done without, it was a good movie. We liked it!
