St. Patrick's Day...

started out with a very nutritious breakfast...

Then off to school with friends

Round 2: breakfast of champions (seriously, we NEVER buy sugar cereal)

Later that day, Chase was off to Pre-school

And that evening, I honestly had the BEST of dinner intentions: Corned Beef & cabbage with potatoes & carrots. I had decided to cook it this year in the crock pot. MISTAKE. It wasn't done at all by the time 6pm came. So here we are, all five of us---PLUS my folks over for dinner and nothing ready. So what did we do?

Hit Round Table Pizza

But don't worry, my St. Patty's Day dinner rocked the house the very next night.

My boys pick me flowers

I'm not sure when this exactly started, but both my boys pick flowers for me, often.

I love it. LOVE it.

Spencer one day picked me some flowers on his walk home from school. And he's kept this up (averaging twice a week!). There is nothing I love more than to see him walk in the house at about 2:10 carrying a flower along with a big, big smile. And he knows how much I love it. I make a big deal and smother him with kisses, and he pretends not to like it...but he totally does.

Chase has started in on this, too and it's so sweet. After we walk Leda to school every morning, this is what I see him do:

Step 1

Step 2

Step 3

Oh how I love these two! Their wives are sooo gonna love me...cause I'm not gonna let my boys ever forget that a girl loves receiving flowers from a cute boy! ;)

Dr. Carruth

I love Dr. Carruth, our children's pediatrician.

Why did I take a picture of Spencer during his eight year old well check?

Because this was the age I was when I first met Dr. Carruth, as he was my doctor back in the day!

And words can't express the gratitude I feel for this man. Not only has he been an exceptional doctor (literally saved Leda's life when she was a week old) but he's also been a good friend.

Three cheers for Doctor Carruth!

Pajama Day 2011

Every year at the Elementary School, in honor of Dr. Seuss's birthday...they have a "Pajama Day" where you get to wear your PJs, bring your pillow, stuffed animal, three books AND a box of cereal to school to donate to a local shelter.

Fun stuff.

It's not just a normal cereal box, it has to be decorated with a picture you've drawn of a cover of one of Dr. Seuss's legendary books.

This year I ran to our local library in hopes to give Spencer & Leda more of a choice of covers to choose from since ours in years past have already been done. So I had the brilliant idea to hit the library the DAY BEFORE these cereal boxes were due and the WEEK OF Dr. Seuss's birthday celebrations. Not one of my brightest moves. Do you wanna know how many books were on the shelve under "SEU" for Seuss? Uh, NONE.

SO I pleaded with the librarian in hopes of finding ANY books...and she returned with TWO that had just been returned! Perfection.

And so last night I set down markers, paper, 2 Dr. Seuss books, a Spencer and a Leda on the kitchen table to complete the task of duplicating a cover of their choice.

And then I walked away.
Totally away.
I didn't help one bit!

And I'm super proud of the results. As were they.

Look!

Spencer was so excited this morning

Spencer & his friends before walking off to school

Leda was about to take flight she was so happy!

What a fun memory to have made.
